NYT: How ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’ defied Top 40 logic; Gordon Lightfoot was, of course, Canadian. But it always tickled me that two of his biggest hits were about my home states, this one (Michigan) and 'Carefree Highway' (Arizona), and that he was one of the few to commemorate the Detroit riots.
