You should have seen how crestfallen my stepfather was when he finished his one-man show about "people who took out student loans should be required to pay them back" and all I did was reply: “It's a lot more complicated than that -- I'm gonna go jump in the shower."

ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you ask him why certain politicos who got government loans during Covid don't have to pay those back? It's a very simple question which will cause cognitive dissonance. Your stepfather would most likely just reconfirm his opinion but at least he will have heard what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
