After two years working from home, Damian tried one day in the office this past week. I still haven't -- with hardly anyone there it really wouldn't be the same, anyway -- but I do admit that life can be pretty one note these days. How about you guys?
I've been back at the office since early winter. I think I actually get less work done in the office than I did at home. There's lots of "let's look busy" at the office whereas I felt an obligation to produce when at home. I'm not a "super socializer," but always stop when I see a friend for a little chat. That eats up the time. Oh well, I don't get paid by the pound.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is the pandemic has given a whole new meaning to "going to the office." Employers are realizing folks can work from home and be productive. Why not have a hybrid? A few days at home and a few days in the office. I am in healthcare so I have to be in the office. Granted if I had a job where I could do it from home I would BUT not 100% of the time. I had an employee who resigned because they could do their new job from home. The husband works from home as well. Let's see how long that lasts.
ReplyDeleteI work in healthcare - administration, that is - I've been back full time since July 2020. It was tough to ask my staff to see patients in person and me not be there - even if in a non-patient care area. I can work from home when I want - it just doesn't happen a lot.
