After being thoroughly underwhelmed by the pilot of “The Cool Kids” — an old-school sitcom starring David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Leslie Jordan and the incomparable Vicki Lawrence -- I must say it’s gotten to be quite good. The retirement-community setting is ripe with possibilities, and the leads are all in fine form.
Bonus points for Max Gail and Jamie Farr appearances -- and it certainly didn’t hurt that they cast Travis Schuldt as Leslie’s clueless son!
I didn't think too much of the pilot episode either, but this show has grown on me. It's just fun to see a bunch of old pros work together in front of a live audience (this kind of comedy would not have worked as a single-camera show).
