I wonder if this version failed to do better on the charts (peaking at No. 49 in 1964) because Dionne comes slightly unhinged at the end?! Kind of funny that Naked Eyes, who took their version of the single to No. 8 in 1983, had a followup with "Promises, Promises," which was also the name of the title track of Dionne's 1968 album.
