Sorry Scots, the Princess was more of a traditional handset on a slimmer oval style base, with it's notable selling feature that the dial and eventually buttons lit, in the base of the phone, for use in the bedroom as a nightlight. The original required an external power supply as a result. The buttons on the Trimline were in the handset, powered by the phone line and only lit when off-hook. The Princess was introduced in 1959, while the Trimline didn't come about until 1965.
You might not remember this, but this model was originally named 'The Princess'.
