Interesting article in Newsweek today (how often do you get to say
that anymore?!), in which Rachel Maddow says she was outed to her parents by the school paper at Stanford University during her freshman year in 1990 when they prematurely ran an article in which she confirmed her sexuality, a piece they had promised they would hold until she could come out to her parents "over the weekend." Read
HERE.
Her "outing" sort of reminds me of when Martina Navratilova got too comfortable with a Daily News reporter back in 1981 and admitted (off the record) that she was "bisexual" (weren't we all?!!!), only to have him run the story. A good lesson for all of us. Do not trust the media with information you want to remain private, especially stuff you want to discuss with your loved ones first.
