Does "Hung" star Thomas Jane really know a thing or two about his TV character's profession -- or is he just trying to prop up his show's ratings following a little backlash at a "homophobic" comment he made?

The hunk tells the Sunday L.A. Times: “When I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless. I didn’t have any money ... I wasn’t averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?”

Uh, I don't know, do I? Everyone else sure seems to think they do ...
