I have a problem with any list of "coolest athletes of all time" that includes Tiger Woods (maybe toolest). However, GQ probably didn't have a lot to work with given the fact that even jocks who were cool in their heyday inevitably screw it up eventually. (See Joe Namath's sloppy pick-up video or Bjorn Borg's bankruptcy-fueled Wimbledon trophy auction.)
I had a roommate in the 60's who went to the University of Alabama and swore that Joe Namath was gay and he had had sex with him. Honest.
