Dude! I just heard an announcement about the NY Times cuts on NPR and I worried about you... Then I took a look at the blog. SO sorry to hear this! But look on the bright side: you now have NO excuse NOT to write your novel.
Kenneth, I really do feel for you. In the last several years I have read your blog, I consider you sort of like an anonymous friend. When I read about your job at lunch, I felt the way I would if a friend had called me up and shared the news. I know that some even greater is going to open up for you soon. Good luck and I will be rooting for you.
Sorry to hear about your job loss..But I really don't get this blog culture...So extraordinarily self-involved...No offense but what makes you or any of these other folks think you are SO fascinating that the general public wants to read about you? I just can't get over how egocentric young Americans have become. I wish you good luck in the job search and just as much luck in realising the world doesn't revolve around you. All of us have trials and tribulations but don't feel it necessary to publish it all over the web. I conclude, as a gay man, that this phenomenon is particularly widespread among young gay men. A straight friend recently said, accurately: try caring for a couple of kids and having a family..you quickly learn you aren't the center of the universe.
So sorry to hear this! As talented a writer that you are, I know you will bounce back in no time. I am really sad for you and know this type of thing could happen to any of us at anytime.

As an older Gay man who enjoys reading Kenneth's blog, I live in the country side with little Gay contact, reading Kenneth's blog is a connection to youth and NYC, were I grew up. This blog could lead Kenneth to a new job, I hope so, these are tough times. Thanks for sharing Kenneth. All the best. Bob
