Senator Larry E. Craig failed today in his effort to withdraw his guilty plea in connection with an undercover sex sting operation. The decision dealt the senator a crippling setback in his attempt to hold on to his seat and caused new anxiety for Republicans. The judge ruled: "The defendant, a career politician with a college education, is of, at least, above-average intelligence He knew what he was saying, reading, and signing."
A career politician with above-average intelligence? I don't know that I'd go that far, but let's hope Craig enrolls at the University of Phoenix and fades into
obscurity soon. (
