While it may be a tad bit true that I specialize in hyperbole, "Heaven (Must Be There)" by the Australian band Eurogliders has to be the best song ever. If you don't know this gem, which was the lead track off their highly underrated 1984 debut, "This Island," go ahead and have a listen. You won't be disappointed.
UPDATE: Just found this concert preview by Boo Browning, the pop-rock music critic for The Phoenix Gazette, dated March 16, 1985. Notice ticket prices were $5! They played at After the Gold Rush, which is where we later saw Debbie Harry on the "Def, Dumb and Blonde" tour in 1989. The Gazette has long since died, but I wonder if the Gold Rush is still around ...
I often find your musical taste mystifying, but not this time..."Heaven" is awsome!
ReplyDeleteThe version I have is a little different (maybe single vs album?), e.g., mine has little echo after they sing the word heaven.
This is truly the best song ever!
ReplyDeleteWow. I haven't heard this song since...probably 1984, but remembered every word! Great song! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words Kenneth. It has always been fun performing this song. Cheers and best wishes,
