For what it is, "So NoTORIous" is actually quite well-done. It would be hard for anyone to do even a self-mocking show all about yourself without it coming off as self-indulgent, yet somehow the writers/producers/Tori have struck just the right balance. I laughed quite a bit and it doesn't hurt that she's surrounded with a nice supporting cast. Zachary Quintos (working off some steam, below) is great as her "gay Iranian" BFF. Loni Anderson is perfect as Tori's self-absorbed mother, Kiki. And the dad only on the intercom is a great touch. And what about the production value of this thing? It sure didn't look like a first-time VH1 sitcom. It's beautifully filmed and has an almost surrealness to it that really complements the fairytale quality that is this girl's life.
Give her a chance, people. It can't be easy having all that fame and fortune but still living with that horse face. It's early, but I'm giving this a definite "pleasantly surprised" at this juncture.
