Odyssey magazine uses a very sexy man from an Andrew Christian underwear campaign on this week's cover.
If ridiculous perfection is a little to much for you to handle, perhaps Next cover man Charlie Williams is more your speed. The "Memphis" actor -- who recently won the Broadway Beauty Pageant -- is definitely one hot NILF (that's Nerd I'd Like to F**k). Good Going, Stranger
Over the weekend, Madonna celebrated the release of a couple imprisoned in Malawi for being gay, and issued a statement to those who joined her fight to free the men:
"I have always believed love conquers all -- yesterday I got to see it in action. In the last week over 30,000 of you added your name to mine for the release of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalangal -- the Malawi couple sentenced to 14 years hard labor for the 'crime' of homosexuality. With incredible joy, I am writing to share with you that Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharia has ordered their release (on humanitarian grounds.)"
The singer -- who adopted two of her children, David and Mercy, from the country and is building a girls' school in the capital -- said she remains concerned about the couple, adding: "Though they are free from prison, sadly their safety and future in Malawi is still unknown. I hope this is just the beginning of our work together."
French Postcard
While we celebrated Memorial Day here in America, the second week of the French Open got under way in Paris, with mixed results for me:
I was ecstatic that Samantha Stosur outlasted Justine Henin to move into the quarterfinals. The Aussie's 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory was declared an "upset" -- yes, Henin is the greatest clay-court player of her era -- but putting my disdain for Henin's "personality" aside, what I liked about this result was that it showed that the game has more depth than one might imagine. Stosur is ranked No. 7 in the world, after all. I like to see that she can (and think she should) beat a player who has been off the tour for years.
Wasn't happy to see my favorite Calvin Klein underwear model -- aka Fernando Verdasco -- lost badly to Nicolas Almagro.
Ditto for the lone American left in the draw, Robby Ginepri, who kept interesting for two sets against Novak Djokovic and then just faded away.
