David Wright Delivers
Mets third baseman David Wright created quite a sensation over at the FDNY's Ladder 20 Engine 13 firehouse on Lafayette Street while filming a new VitaminWater commercial yesterday. Wright traded in his baseball uniform for some VitaminWater delivery man blues -- complete with "David" name patch. Is it any wonder all the firefighters were giddy and snapping cell-phone pictures of New York City's most eligible bachelor? (Gothamist)Previously:

David Wright: Captain of My Heart
Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks the sky's the limit for sexy slugger David Wright. Delta Air Lines named a plane after the New York Mets' All-Star third baseman Monday at LaGuardia Airport. The plane, an MD-88, is called The Wright Flight, and is used on shuttles flights between New York, Boston and Washington. The plane's name and Wright's signature and jersey number (5) are next to the boarding door.
The 23-year-old Wright said that the honor was only fitting given that he and his "Wright brothers," Daniel, Matthew and Stephen, used to joke as kids growing up near Norfolk, Va., that they were related to the other Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, who are credited with making the first successful flight on Dec. 17, 1903.
"I use Delta to go home to visit family and friends," Wright said Monday, with more than a hint of product-endorsement for money, "so this will be pretty cool to take a plane named after me when I go home."
Wright was the NL's starting third baseman in the All-Star game this year. The Mets, who won the NL East, are making their first playoff appearance since 2000. They face the Los Angeles Dodgers at Shea Stadium on Wednesday. (AP)

Do the Wright Thing
I post a lot of pictures of Mets slugger David Wright 'cause I think he's cute -- oh, and because he's a great baseball player. But I also think he seems to be a really kind and genuine person. I don't know him, so I have no way of knowing for sure. But every time I turn around his foundation is doing something for those who are less fortunate, and I can't help but think his actions speak volumes about the kind of man he truly is -- and that just makes him that much more attractive.

Looking for Mr. Wright
As regular readers know, a shirtless photo of Mets slugger David Wright is kind of the Holy Grail of the (212). So when a kind reader wrote to say he thought he had one, I was most appreciative. But upon intense inspection, my feeling was close but no cigar. For one thing, I don't see Wright as being the manscaping type. And the hunky third baseman is a "big boy," which means I doubt his abs are anything close to popping. The mouth seems a little off, too. I'm notorious bad at this kind of thing, so I'm turning it over to you guys. Please VOTE below -- and I'd love to hear thoughts in the comments section, too. I say he's not Mr. Wright, but he'd definitely work as a Mr. Right Now. (If you need more sample photos of David, please click HERE.)

No sooner did I start to lose faith in Mets cutie David Wright did he begin to turn things around. Can you ever forgive me?Tuesday, July 17, 2007
David Wright: Prince of the City
It seems David Wright and I are now neighbors: the adorable Mets third baseman recently bought a 3-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot, full-floor penthouse condo in the Flatiron District (sounds just like mine, give or take 3,600 square feet). "It's an old office building that they gutted, and there are only eight residences," Wright explains, with the exuberance of a new homeowner. Apparently when the first home you buy costs $6.5 million there's plenty of excitement to go around. "And now when my parents come here, they can stay right with me. They don't have to get a hotel room. My brothers absolutely love it."
David goes on to describe his new digs at the "ultimate bachelor's pad: "You walk in, I got a pool table, a pinball machine and the slot machine." He did hire an interior decorator to put the finishing touches on the place -- but he picked out the poker table himself. "We butted heads a few times, but it looks great," says Wright. "She wanted to throw a bunch of colors in there. I said, 'No way. Grays, blacks and browns. Guy colors. No peaches.'" (PageSix: The Magazine)

Score! David Wright Shirtless
After years of blogging about my search for the Holy Grail of shirtless celebrity photos -- New York Mets third baseman David Wright -- a kind reader sent me this shot of Mr. Wright last night, a "pic with" the hunky slugger taken a couple years ago -- before David got jacked up -- by a pool in Florida. While I've been down this road before, this one's definitely a home run. Enjoy!Tuesday, October 17, 2006
David's Mrs. Wright
"He's always been grounded," Elisa Wright said. "He's not an extravagant person and never will be. When he first signed with the Mets someone said that he would have signed for five bucks and a bag of chips -- and that's true." For now, the only Mrs. Wright remains his mom. "He's never mentioned that he's seeing anyone or serious with anyone," Elisa said. "Baseball always came first. If the girls can't handle that, it doesn't last." (Mmmmm.)
