John Isner beat fellow Trumperster Ryan Harrison 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in a two-hour final to win the Atlanta Open. Isner, who also beat Harrison to win last year's title, has now won the event five of the last six years.

Good win for Ryan Harrison to get there, though, beating Hyeon Chung in a three-set thriller in the quarters.

Speaking of Harrisons: got to see Christian Harrison, Ryan's younger brother, play in World Team Tennis the other night on The Tennis Channel. He's quite a looker -- and will be even hotter when he "fills out" like his brother.

He gave his parents a shout out on Instagram on their 29th wedding anniversary -- plus "five years of dating," as he notes!

Nikoloz Basilashvili battled back against defending champion Leonardo Mayer of Argentina to claim a stunning maiden Tour title at the German Open in Hamburg, winning 6-4, 0-6, 7-5. The world No. 81 from Georgia cane through qualifying to win it! 

Italian dreamboat Matteo Berrettini beat Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6(9), 6-4 to win the Swiss Open on Sunday. Berrettini was playing in his first ATP final, wrapping up his fifth straight-sets win of the week in one hour and 45 minutes. 

He then returned to win the doubles crown also, with (his dad?) Daniele Bracciali. Berrettini had never won a tour-level doubles match before this!

Olga Danilovic of Serbia won her first WTA title when she beat Russian wild card Anastasia Potapova 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-4 in the Moscow River Cup on Sunday. It was the first meeting on the tour between the two 17-year-olds, with Danilovic becoming the first player born in the 2000 to win a WTA event.

And lastly, in the 250 tournament in Nanchang,  China's second seed Wang Qiang claimed her first WTA title after her compatriot Zheng Saisai was forced to retire injured trailing 7-5, 4-0 in the ­Jiangxi Open final on Sunday.

Belgium became the last team to reach the semifinals of the 2017 Davis Cup on Sunday, beating Italy thanks to David Goffin's win over Paolo Lorenzi in the fourth rubber. France and Serbia already claimed their semifinal tickets on Saturday, and Australia followed suit a little later, as Nick Kyrgios completed a comeback win over Sam Querrey. Meanwhile over at the kids' table ...

The Irish squad secured promotion to the Davis Cup with a 2-1 win over Dimitrov-less hosts Bulgaria in the final play-off promotional match of the BNP Paribas Group II ...

We all know what James McGee is made of ...

but it looks like the spectators were the real winners with all of these strapping young men running around.

South of the border: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova claimed her fourth WTA Monterrey Open title on Sunday, defeating world No 1 Angelique Kerber. 

Interesting when a player completely dominates a certain event. Reminded me of Tracy Austin's tear at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, where she had won four sports cars -- and plenty of cash -- by the time she was 18. (Her 1982 loss in her fifth final there portended the end of her career.)

And in Charleston -- which I grew up knowing as the Family Circle Cup with James Taylor's "Carolina on My Mind" playing at the beginning of each telecast back when it was held on Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- 19-year-old Russian Daria Kasatkina beat fellow teen Jalena Ostapenko to win her first WTA event at the Volvo Car Open. It was the first final between two teens on the WTA tour in eight years, something that was extremely common back when tennis was my life. (In 1981 alone, Tracy beat teens Andrea Jaeger twice, Pam Shriver and Mary-Lou Piatek to capture titles.)
