Saw on Towleroad that RumorFix is reporting that Dirk Shafer -- who gained notoriety as a Playgirl's Man of the Year in 1992 then later came out -- has died under mysterious circumstances. (His body was found in a vehicle a few blocks from his home.) Never met him, but we were friendly on Facebook, where I noticed this photo with Joan Rivers. I hope there's an afterlife and that they're having fun together now. RIP.
