Weekend Tennis Roundup

POST HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH CAPTIONS AND NEW PHOTOS

Titles for Medvedev, Cobolli, Darderi, Stearns and Bucsa. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

I'll flesh this out as time permits, but pictures are worth a thousand words ...

Flavio Cobolli defeated Frances Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-4 to win the Acapulco title, marking the Italian's third career ATP title and his first-ever title on hard courts.

Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo -- partners since 2017 -- captured the Acapulco doubles title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alexander Erler and Robert Galloway, marking Melo’s 42nd ATP doubles crown and Zverev’s third.

Daniil Medvedev won the Dubai title via walkover after Tallon Griekspoor withdrew from the final with a left hamstring injury. The title -- his second in Dubai after 2023 -- marked the first time he has won the same ATP event twice, having reached the final without dropping a set, including a semifinal win over top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The studly Dutchman sustained a "serious" hamstring injury during his semifinal victory over Andrey Rublev, but still looked more than 100% during the trophy ceremony. (Those track pants!)

Third seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten captured the doubles crown in Dubai with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

Luciano Darderi defeated Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(6), 7-5 in the final of the Chile Open. This victory in Santiago marked Darderi’s fifth career ATP title -- all of which have been won on clay -- and moved him to a career-high ranking of world No. 21.

Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos defeated Ariel Behar and Matthew Romios in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the doubles crown in Santiago. Matos and Luz cleaned up on the Golden Swing, with titles in Buenos Aires and Rio as well.

Cristina Bucsa defeated Magdalena Frech 6–1, 4–6, 6–4 to win the Mérida Open Akron title. This victory marked Bucsa's first career WTA singles title and propelled her to a career-high world ranking of No. 31.

Peyton Stearns defeated Taylor Townsend 7-6(8), 7-5 on March 1, 2026, to win the ATX Open in Austin, Texas. The victory marked her second career WTA singles title -- and her first on home soil at her alma mater’s stomping grounds.

Top seeds Taylor Townsend and Storm Hunter claimed the Austin doubles title with a crisp 6-3, 6-4 win over Eudice Chong and Liang En-shuo on March 1. For Townsend, it was sweet redemption -- just hours after coming up short in the singles final.
