Kartal and Frech were first-time WTA winners as the men battled it out for a spot in the Davis Cup qualifiers. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.
Although I mainly care about how the men look in their get-ups (see below), over the weekend 16 Davis Cup teams were whittled down to eight: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and USA are heading to November's Finals in Malaga -- although I don't really understand what this draw means.
Britain's Sonay Kartal -- whose service motion rivals Pam Shriver's forehand in the ugliness department -- beat Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova 6-3, 7-5 in Sunday's final in Tunisia to claim victory in her first WTA Tour final
And Poland’s Magdalena Frech capped a dream week in Guadalajara on Sunday night, defeating Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki, 7-6 (5), 6-4, to capture the first WTA title of her career

And last but not least: Now that we just completed our first year without a Federer, Nadal or Djokovic victory in a major, it's the perfect time to look back at how insanely dominant the Big 3 have been.
