Titles for Fils, Berrettini, Borges, Giron, Zheng, and Shnaider -- plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.
Playing in the biggest match of his young career, Arthur Fils came through a dramatic final set to defeat home favorite Alexander Zverev 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(1) in Sunday's Hamburg Open final. In a three-and-a-half-hour marathon, the #NextGenATP Frenchman saved an incredible 21 of 22 break points, including five in the final set, before dominating the decisive tie-break, 7-1.
Perennially injured Matteo Berrettini was able to capture his ninth ATP Tour title on Sunday at the Swiss Open in Gstaad. The sixth seed dispatched Quentin Halys 6-3, 6-1 in just 59 minutes in the championship match at the clay-court ATP 250.
Although he could not match Berrettini on Sunday, Halys will on Monday rise 67 spots to No. 125 in the PIF ATP Rankings as a result of his Gstaad run. The Frenchman is chasing a return to the Top 100 for the first time since last December.
You call this a loser?!
Rafael Nadal's quest for a tournament victory fell short at the Nordea Open. The 22-time Grand Slam champion reached the final but lost to No. 7 seed Nuno Borges, 6-3, 6-2. This was the first time Nadal reached a tournament final since the 2022 French Open.
This was Nadal's first appearance in Bastad since 2005, when he won the event as a 19-year-old. He entered this tournament to gain extra practice on clay courts, which is the surface that will be used during the 2024 Olympic Tournament in Paris.
Marcos Giron is proving age is just a number. The 30-year-old big-assed American won his first ATP Tour title, defeating #NextGenATP countryman Alex Michelsen 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-5 to claim the trophy in at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, R.I. The former Bruin saved match point with an ace at 4-5, 30/40 in the deciding set and clinched victory with his 13th ace of the match.

No.1 seed Zheng Qinwen successfully defended a title for the first time in her career on Sunday night, winning her second straight Palermo Ladies Open trophy with a win over No.2 seed Karolina Muchova, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The Czechwoman, who reached the final of the 2023 French Open,, was playing just her third event back on tour since ending a 10-month injury hiatus. Muchova had been sidelined with a wrist injury since last year's U.S. Open, so it was good to see her back.
No.1 seed Diana Shnaider continued her charge up the rankings by winning the Hungarian Grand Prix title on Sunday, and she completed a rare all-surface achievement in the process. Shnaider defeated 134th-ranked Aliaksandra Sasnovich -- whose serve is the ugliest stroke the WTA has seen since Pam Shriver's forehand -- 6-4, 6-4 to win the clay-court crown in Budapest. Shnaider, currently ranked a career-high No.28, won her first career title on the hard courts of Hua Hin this February, and then won her second title on the grass of Bad Homburg just before Wimbledon.
Can I quote you on that, handsome?
As thrilled as I was for the hunky Frenchman to win in Hamburg, it was his willingness to stand up to this bully -- who approached and started to engage Fils on a changeover, something you just don't do -- that really made me happy
Zverev, of course, acted like a big baby when he lost
