Weekend Tennis Roundup

Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova are this year's king and queen of Wimbledon! Full report plus plenty of ATP beef BELOW

In a victory for Margaret Court fans, Carlos Alcaraz blew past Novak Djokovic to retain his Wimbledon title, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4). The Serb remains tied with the hateful Aussie at 24 majors.

In the women's final, Barbora Krejcikova edged out Jasmine Paolini to win her second major, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. She becomes the eighth different women in eight years to win at the All England Club. (I was happy for her, especially when I saw her look at her late mentor Jana Novotna's name on the winners' board.)

Great Britain's Henry Patten and Finland's Harri Heliovaara saved three championship points on their way to winning a thrilling men's doubles final. Patten, 28, and Heliovaara, 35, clinched a 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (11-9) victory against Australian 15th seeds Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson, to the delight of a large crowd on Centre Court on Saturday.

Hats off to Heliovaara for trading in pretty boy Lloyd Glasspool for another fit Brit ...

His 6-6 partner played at UNC Asheville

And Heliovaara knew right where the prize was!

Katerina Siniakova won her third women’s doubles title at Wimbledon by teaming up with Taylor Townsend to beat Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe 7-6 (5), 7-6 (1).

Hsieh Su-Wei is leaving Wimbledon with a trophy for the fourth time in her last four appearances. After her winning streak in the women’s doubles ended in the semifinals, Hsieh teamed up with cutie Jan Zielinski to win the mixed doubles final on Centre Court on Sunday, beating Mexican duo Santiago Gonzalez and Giuliana Olmos 6-4, 6-2.
