Weekend Tennis Roundup

Titles for Ruud, Struff, Fucsovics, Rybakina and Stevens. Plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

Casper Ruud completed a revenge job in convincing fashion Sunday in Barcelona, where the Norwegian defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 6-3 to lift the trophy at the clay-court ATP 500. Seven days after Tsitsipas prevailed in the pair’s championship-match meeting in Monte-Carlo, Ruud delivered a classy all-around display to clinch his first ATP Tour title of the season and most prestigious to date.

In the Barcelona doubles final, defending champions Máximo González and Andrés Molteni[ defeated Hugo Nys and Jan Zieliński in the final, 4–6, 6–4, [11–9]

The fourth time was the charm for 33-year-old Jan-Lennard Struff on Sunday at the BMW Open. The German defeated American Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-3 to win his first career ATP singles title, becoming the first home champion at the tournament in five years in the process.

Struff also teamed up with countryman Andreas Mies to reach the doubles final, where they narrowly lost to Yuki Bhambri / France Albano Olivetti 7–6(8–6), 7–6(7–5)

Hungarian hunk Marton Fucsovics earned his second ATP Tour title on Sunday when he defeated rising Argentine Mariano Navone 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the Tiriac Open.

In the doubles final, Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia defeated Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten, 6-3, 7-5

Elena Rybakina needed just over an hour on Sunday to roll to her third title of 2024 at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. After snapping world No.1 Iga Swiatek's 10-match winning streak in a nearly three-hour semifinal on Saturday, the fourth-ranked "Kazakh" was dominant in a 6-2, 6-2 win over unseeded Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who had outlasted Coco Gauff en route to the final.

Sloane Stephens battled to her eighth career WTA Tour singles title on Sunday, defeating unseeded-but-always-tricky Magda Linette of Poland 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 to win the inaugural WTA 250 Open de Rouen in France.
