American Idiots

More wannabe woke BS. How many of those other countries actually have "America" in their name? Pretty sure it's zero. It's called shorthand, and its residents are called AMERICANS.

  1. I remember I had a rogue customs officer at the Canadian border who got all bend out of shape when I said my country was America. “Canadiens are American too. North American!” I am still bitter about that interaction.

  2. Come on in the official name "America" is being referred to as a place the United States are located. It is just polite not to use that shorthand. Kind of ugly American when...(oops)

  3. When I am abroad I just usually say I am from the "United States" or "Texas". They always know where those places are. I met a guy in a bar one evening in Houston and he was from Brazil. I asked him how he was enjoying America. He said, "well I live in America as well".

  4. If people want to complain I suggest they take it up with the British. No one calls the U.S. “America” more than they do.

  5. The definition of Privilege is thinking something doesn't matter because it doesn't affect you.

I'm from Central America and believe me, this "shorthand" is annoying AF

    1. Of course I do. I'm Guatemalan, but another pet of my identity is being Central American. It's regional...cultural

Point being that an American doesn't just mean someone from the US

  7. @Erick-O: When has ANYONE ever called someone from Guatemalan an "American"?
