Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon

Regular readers know that I went in drag for Halloween when I was 8, with my mom styling me in a way that resembled our eccentric neighbor Karen. On my family's recent trip to Detroit we were driving past our old house when my stepfather blurted out, "You know why Kenny is the way he is?" You could hear a pin drop in the rental van waiting for where this potential barn-burner was going, when Gary continued: "Because Karen Muethel told him about the birds and the bees." When everyone was done exhaling, it all came flooding back to me, this insane detail that had completely slipped my all-too-cluttered memory back when I was writing my memoir. Why this woman -- who was my Son of Sam gossip partner and delightfully hung beads to separate her dining room and kitchen, a la Rhoda Morgenstern -- thought it was her place to tell a boy in the neighborhood about the facts of life is anyone's guess.

But then again, this is the woman who thought her daughter Laura was a "genius" because she had figured out how to break a Corelle plate -- they were advertising as being "unbreakable," but I don't think throwing it on the cement patio was what the designers had in mind -- and had to be reprimanded by my mother for TAPING the pacifier in her baby son's mouth. I tracked down her middle child, a second daughter she did nothing to disguise her contempt for as she wanted a girl and a boy, on Facebook not too long ago and found out Karen had died in her late 40s of a massive heart attack. It turned out that this daughter, who I always favored over the prodigal child,  had a bizarre connection to the Oakland County Child Killer case, having married a man whose father was once a suspect. (He also wrote a memoir!) When I thought she and I had become close enough to really open up, she handled my unflattering recollections of her mom's behavior toward her (and her Scotch-taped little brother) graciously, explaining that her mother improved with age. It was at that moment I happened upon this old photo of me as her mom while visiting my parents in Arizona, so I got the nerve to send it to her. I've never heard from her since. Happy Halloween, everyone!

P.S. Apparently I wasn't the only gay blogger who did drag a a boy!

(Bikini) Waxing Nostalgic

Body builder David Prowse made a splash as the bodyguard in 1971's "A Clockwork Orange." But his best moment on the silver screen had to have been two years later in "White Cargo," where he rocked a pair of SKIMPY BLUE BRIEFS in a way that still has me longing for the '70s! See HERE

With those legs, I'm guessing he had to be related to Juliet!

Another great one from the Longpigs guitarist gone solo. This was used in "Nick and Norah's Playlist" before resurfacing on "Divorce" a couple weeks ago.

If wanton mishandling of classified material is the issue here, and the FBI already says Clinton and her staff had classified material in their emails but did not intentionally mishandle it, what could possibly be in this latest batch to make any difference?

Trail of Jeers

If you're gonna do this, at least get him to go shirtless like Gus Kenworthy

Hilary Duff is being assailed for her choice of Halloween costume. But forgive me if I got a little distracted by her new trainer boyfriend, Jason Walsh, who famously got Bradley Cooper, Justin Theroux, Milo Ventimiglia and John Krasinski so ripped. (If I find out he also did Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth then I'll have gay-lust-bingo!) Girl has good taste in MEN!

She's sorry, btw.

See what Jason's ass looks like out of those dress pants HERE!

Supreme Court to Hear Case on Transgender Rights

It's news like this that reminds you how important elections used to be -- like when presidents were allowed to appoint Supreme Court justices.

The New York Times reports:
The Supreme Court on Friday entered the intense national debate over transgender rights, announcing that it would decide whether a transgender boy may use the boys’ bathroom in a Virginia high school.

The legal question in the case is whether the Obama administration was entitled to interpret a regulation under Title IX, a 1972 law that bans discrimination “on the basis of sex” in schools that receive federal money, as banning discrimination based on gender identity.

Last year, the federal Department of Education said schools “generally must treat transgender students consistent with their gender identity.” In May, the department issued a more general directive that said schools may lose federal money if they discriminate against transgender students.

The case before the Supreme Court concerns Gavin Grimm, who was designated female at birth but identifies as a male. He attends Gloucester High School in southeastern Virginia.

For a time, school administrators allowed Mr. Grimm to use the boys’ bathroom, but the local school board later adopted a policy that required students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms for their “corresponding biological genders.” The board added that “students with gender identity issues” would be allowed to use private bathrooms.

BREAKING: Hillary Clinton Being Investigated for Leaving Banana Peel on Runway Last Night at La Guardia.

Or at least she will be by week's end. The New York Times reports that a plane carrying Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, skidded off a runway in heavy rain at La Guardia Airport on Thursday night, but no one was injured, according to the authorities. The episode happened shortly before 8 p.m. as the plane, carrying Mr. Pence and 47 other people, was landing and “overshot” the runway, the agency that runs the airport, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said on Twitter. The plane traveled through an “arrestor bed,” a form of crushable concrete used to stop aircraft that overrun a runway, and stopped in a grassy area adjacent to the runway, the authority said.
