Always wondered why I was so drawn to this song -- turns out it was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," (Righteous Brothers), "Here You Come Again" (Dolly Parton), "I'm Gonna Be Strong" (Blue Angel), "Don't Know Much" (Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville) and so on fame.
