Sad to read that acclaimed composer Marvin Hamlisch -- who won the Oscar for Barbra Streisand's "The Way We Were," as well as a Tony and a Pulitzer in a storied career spanning six decades -- has died at the young age of 68. His legacy is secure -- Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" alone would have done that -- yet it was a couple of nerds who first introduced me to the man. Read his New York Times obituary HERE.

I must admit that I came to know Mr. Hamlisch via "The Great Space Coaster" back in the early '80s. Though anyone who's read my Lambda Award-winning DRAMA QUEERS! knows I'm a big ICE CASTLES fan and of its theme "Through the Eyes of Love" also penned by Mr. H.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marvin Hamlisch!!
ReplyDeleteI loved what he did for the 1994 Barbra Streisand concert - pure class!!
