RIP, Davy Jones

The world of entertainment lost yet another one of its iconic stars today when Monkees singer Davy Jones died. He was 66 and reportedly suffered a heart attack at his home in Indiantown, Fla. As old as I feel sometimes am, the Monkees were actually a little before my time. But because of reruns of "The Brady Bunch," Davy was an indelible part of my childhood -- could you blame Marcia for having such a crush? he was nearly as tall as she was!!! -- which led to my seeking out 45's of "Daydream Believer," “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I’m a Believer” and “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone.” While it's not as painful as losing a 48-year-old diva, 66 still seems awfully young. RIP, Davy.

  1. Sad. I am old enough to remember watching the Monkees in the 60's. As a little gayby, I had a crush on Davey Jones for sure.

    R.I.P., Davey.

Being from the same generation as Kenneth, my first reaction upon hearing the news of his death was, "Girl, look what you've done to me..." (the song he sings in The Brady Bunch episode).
