Debbie Harry, left, seen at Cosmopolitan's Ultimate Women of the Year Awards yesterday in London; Phyllis Diller, leaving bingo at the Brentwood Senior Center
Oh, Debbie. You know I love you, but I can see this next decade isn't going to be easy on either of us.
Don't diss the Diller, Kenny boy. Brilliant, anarchic and utterly without shame or discretion, she paved the way for generations of female comics after her by challenging the male-dominated world of stand-up in the 50s. Check in with Debby at 94, and see if she fares so well.
ReplyDeleteJeff: I think you're losing it a bit. He's not "dissing" Phyllis. He's dissing Debbie.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love to be Phyllis' bff, but she's the unfunniest person ever!
ReplyDeleteHmm. You know that old canard that there aren't any good roles for actresses over 40? Maybe we can rewrite it to something about hair... and pitch it as the latest reality TV show!
