Four employees at Walmart in Layton,, Utah, say they
were fired for disarming a gunman caught shoplifting. Walmart said their actions had "violated company policy" and
put their fellow workers and shoppers at risk. I applaud Walmart for looking out for its customers. I feel much safer knowing that in the future, armed shoppers who aren't content paying bargain-basement prices can go about their business without these annoying employees getting in the way. Besides, you wouldn't want to run the risk of offending the lucrative gun-buying demographic.
They risked their lives and the lives of the customers for some stupid electronic crap. If someone had died or was injured Walmart would be sued.
ReplyDeleteI think what they mean by "put[ting] their fellow workers and shoppers at risk" is that, had the employees failed to disarm the guy, he could have shot someone (even if by accident). Well, I think that is extremely likely to happen, so I would be happier if they just let the robber leave, and then call the police.
ReplyDeletep.s. Sorry, if I missed any irony in your post.
