Hard to believe, but today is the 26th anniversary of the death of Jon-Erik Hexum, the man who starred in a million gay boys' fantasies before accidentally killing himself with a prop gun. My JEH-obsessed pal Frank Anthony Polito is working on bringing his JEH-obsessed characters from his book "Band Fags" to the big -- or little -- screen, and recently put together this scene in a film directing class taught by Todd Stephens, who wrote the classic "Edge of Seventeen," which also deals with coming out in the Midwest in the '80s.
