The Associated Press reports:
In speeches at the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have denounced a proposed anti-gay law in Uganda.
In the keynote speech, Clinton said she had called Uganda's president to express "strongest concerns" about legislation that could call for the execution of gays.
Obama said such laws are "odious" and "unconscionable."
Gay rights advocates said the sponsor of the Ugandan legislation was linked to the Christian group that organizes the annual breakfast, and they had urged Obama not to attend.
