The L.A. Times reports: A neck-and-neck mayoral runoff pitting a black man against a white woman has spurred some intense discussions about race and politics in the South's most important city.
But in recent days, the two campaigns have also turned their attention to a demographic beyond race that may ultimately sway Tuesday's election: the gay vote.
It's been fascinating to read how this election has proceeded. I grew up in the suburbs on the east side of Atlanta and though I'm now in Phoenix, I'll be moving back in February after just over six years in the desert.
ReplyDeleteDistrict Six is the Gayborhood in Atlanta and it's been the contentious swing district in many city elections. The final turnout is really going to be interesting to see tomorrow (and I would expect, into Wednesday morning).
You have to give some credit it to Mary Norwood.. She showed up at Burkharts last night during a drag show and gave a speech. Not easy to do with a 6' 2 Drag queen in heels standing next to you!
