OK, I promise this is the final desk post. But for those of you who cheered me on, I thought you might like to see the finished product with all the stuff back on it. To those who said the color would "grow" on me, you're right. I think for an 11-year-old, $60 IKEA table it looks pretty good. So now that I'm on a household "roll," it's time to assemble this behemoth media tower I ordered online. While most kids are dumping CDs in the trash can and going all digital, I'm clinging onto my '80s music '90s style. The new tower holds more than 1,000 discs, which doesn't even begin to cover things. But at least it's a start!
Nicely done! I always have the best intentions... but fear that I can magically turn a fine piece of wood into something I'd not even buy at a yard sale. You give me hope.

ReplyDeleteI'm loving that CD tower. I'll have to keep that in mind when my CD collection grows large enough. I'm only 20, but I will continue buying CD's until they aren't produced anymore. Am I that crazy for liking to have all of my music in hard copy? (Likewise, I'm a print journalism major. Apparently, I'm a fan of the underdog!)

ReplyDeleteWell done, Kenneth! I've been threatening to paint Bridget's desk white for three years now and the promptly never do it. Perhaps I can gain new motivation from you. Love the chair -- great pick. I wish you success with the CD rack. Though I'm sure Dave in Texas is well-intentioned, we found out the hard way that those photo album-y cases just lead to a binder full of CDs stuck to their little plastic slots. Environmentally awful as they are, the jewel cases are just easier to deal with. Happy weekend project!
ReplyDeleteHey Kenneth- The desk looks great! As someone who works with design clients, I totally know "color remorse", but if you follow your instincts you usually wind up happy. Oftentimes it's seeing a piece in an unfamiliar color that causes a freak-out!
ReplyDeleteI did buy the CD albums - it took a while and I had to save the CD books but it was worth it. What a space saver. Of course, I had digitized all my music but I couldn't throw them out.
