I caught my first episode of MTV's latest high school reality offering "Two-a-Days" last night. The Times' Virginia Heffernan accurately describes the show's main stars -- Max Lerner and Alex Binder -- as "two achingly beautiful white guys who bring to mind James Dean and Warren Beatty plus 100 pounds of muscle; if producers are hoping for some 'Splendor in the Grass' melodrama, these two are the guys to bet on." (She also laments the lack of screen time for Hoover football teammate Repete, a name from which I'm still recovering from laughing.) I guess this officially makes me a "dirty old man" now, but these two guys are really just too much, and surely there's nothing wrong with looking. And besides, isn't the age of consent in Alabama around 11 anyway?

You know...I caught this show for the first time a few weeks ago. I thought it would be cool becuase I love football. It seems that football in Alabama mostly involves Alex changing his shirt...and strangely I don't mind a bit. Strange because I'm not normally into the youngins. But when I was that age and a jock...which wasn't all that long ago...high school jocks didn't look like that.

ReplyDeleteI've been watching this show from minute one and now that its about to wrap its season, there will be an empty spot on my Wednesday nights. Football is huge where I live here in Ohio and my school wasn't a whole lot different than Hoover. However; you were mistaken about one thing...Ross Wilson is the hot one on that show!!!

I never have really like football or was ever into watching it but this show has definitly showed me just how hard adn how proud football players can work and be. it's a little insane to know they practice twice a day sometimes and do nothing but football, but that kind of dedication in a guy is extremely admirable. by the way...alex max and ross are soo hott, not just their looks, but their southern gentlemen ways too! i think i'm going to have to go and make some college visits...haha

ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Two-A-Days! You guys are amaaaazing..It's crazy how highschool football can be so intense. Upstate New York football teams don't even come close to the level you guys play at! There better be another show with you guys in it on MTV soon!
