13 Mile

Just got home from my faux high school reunion in Detroit. The trip was everything I'd hoped for, not counting the violent trip to the bathroom after drinking one of my friend's mom's cappuccino delight SlimFast shakes while starving and waiting for my pals to pick me up to go out to eat. (How did that commercial go? "I had a shake for breakfast — rip; another for lunch — rip; and then a sensible dinner.") 

 It was almost weird how natural it felt to have everyone together again, going out to eat at Tubby's and cruising past the old house on 13 Mile Road en route to a night on the town in Royal Oak. On Saturday night, Mark and Brad had a great time at their actual class reunion while JR and Nina, along with JR's boyfriend Monty, went with me to a strip club on 7 Mile Road instead. 

The weekend culminated with the whole gang getting together one more time later that night in Mark's hotel suite. There was something very post-St. Elmo's Fire about the whole weekend that gave me a warm feeling inside. Thanks, guys. I wouldn't have wanted to reunite with anyone more than you.
